He insisted. As we continued speaking and I shared an experience I recently had, he told me, "Here, that is something you can blog about." With that he successfully planted the idea in my head.
Since then I've been giving it some thought and I realized that I am constantly "blogging." Many conversations I I have with students, alumni, friends and family are actually blogs; sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences.
Considering that I have dedicated my life to sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences I may as well do it in the most effective way. That is, in the most accessible way.
Though I am not a writer, nor the son of writer (far from it), I begin this blog with the words of the third Chabad Rebbe hovering in my mind. "You can become an onion, Chassidut you should teach." This he said in response to a chosid of his who resisted sharing chassidic teachings for the vulnerability it made him feel. The Rebbe told him that how you feel is unimportant, you have a responsibility to share.
