Chabad is often stereotyped as being really nice. We often hear from people how they visited this and that Chabad House and they were so nice. Some even say that about us. We however are not nice, and this past weekend was proof of it.
Thirty five graduating seniors and their families joined us for commencement weekend Shabbat dinner. This Shabbat dinner is the highlight and most anticipated event of the year, hands down. However, none of the 170 guests were there because we are nice, rather as a result of the deep and valued relationship we have developed with each other. These connections brought us to know each other, share, laugh and celebrate. Most of all though, to learn and grow with each other during the past few years. These relationships were based on mutual respect and appreciation. Words cannot describe how deeply we value them. The cornerstone of our Chabad House are these relationships. Throughout the school year we may be your stereotypical Chabad House. Yet at the end of it all, on commencement weekend, we are all about these relationships. This summer we will once again be moving to NYC to spend time with alumni, students and friends to continue nurturing these relationships. Have a wonderful summer! Warmly, Chanie & Peretz
