Since 2001, Chanie and Peretz Chein have served as the co-directors of Chabad at Brandeis, building a vibrant, inclusive, and intellectually engaged Jewish community on campus. Guided by the Rebbe’s vision of boundless love and purpose-driven living, they’ve created a home where students from all backgrounds feel welcomed, challenged, and supported in their Jewish journey.
Together, they’ve nurtured a unique model of Jewish life and learning at Brandeis—where deep conversation, joyous Shabbat dinners, and personal mentoring go hand in hand. Their approach blends authenticity and relevance, empowering students to engage with timeless wisdom while navigating the complexity of modern life.
Beyond Brandeis, Chanie and Peretz co-founded M54: The Institute for Insourcing – Avoda Pnimis, which supports adults and leaders in exploring personal growth through Chassidic teachings. Their work reflects their shared commitment to education, inner transformation, and meaningful connection.
Chanie and Peretz live in Waltham with their children and remain deeply grateful for the students, alumni, and families who continue to shape and inspire the Chabad at Brandeis community.
